Exchange Programs

YFU is a homestay program where you live with a host family, attend the local high school, and interact with new friends. You will understand the country and its people in a way that only someone who has lived there can!  You’ll benefit academically as you learn in a global setting, and gain knowledge through the unique strengths of your school abroad.

YFU offers more than 100 program choices to over 50 countries. YFU looks for students who are flexible, have a spirit of adventure, and who will enjoy the challenge of adapting to new people in a new culture. There is a program perfect for you.

Every YFU study abroad program includes the following:

• Assistance with acquiring your visa or resident permit, as required;
• Placement with a carefully selected host family;
• Support for students and families through counselling, tutoring, and other means (as needed);
• 24-hour worldwide professional emergency assistance.
• Round trip international travel from point of Gateway City departure.
• Assistance from YFU staff at transfer points.
• Support and orientations before, during and after your exchange.
• Support from YFU Canada, and host country YFU office while on program.
• Enrollment in a high school for year and semester programs; some summer programs also include school sessions.
• Written materials guiding you through the application and exchange process.
• Many YFU programs offer optional organized activities to visit sights of local interest.
• Comprehensive medical, dental, accident, theft, liability and baggage insurance.
